Health insurance: practice the conscious use
Written by: Horiens - 25/03/2022
Much is said about the conscious use of health insurance. But what is it exactly about? Learn more here.
Health insurance is a benefit directly linked to people’s quality of life. It provides access to a network of qualified professionals and services in order to offer the best possible assistance to its beneficiaries.
But overuse of the plan or simply not using it brings problems that can often be avoided with information.
For Laudelino Soares, responsible for People Insurance at Horiens, the ideal is to seek a balance. “Prioritizing wellness means having a focus on promoting your own health, using resources with awareness,” he explains. “In practice, this means having a routine medical follow-up for prevention, following medical treatments, using the referenced network, knowing how to identify possible frauds, among other good practices,” highlights Laudelino.
Learn what are the best practices:
Follow up with your doctor periodically. Identify a doctor to follow you throughout your life, he will refer you to specialists when necessary. Give preference to doctors, clinics, and laboratories in the referenced network.
Take advantage of the appointment to ask questions, have the required tests done, and come back for a visit. Also, be faithful to the treatment indicated by your doctor on a daily basis.
Emergency room only for urgencies and emergencies. Whenever possible, prefer scheduled appointments. With each use of emergency services, the costs of the plan increase.
Keep the test results for future reference. They can even be useful for different medical specialties.
Check the plan’s guides before signing them for appointments, exams, and procedures. Check that the documents and protocols refer to the services used.
Always have your card at hand or on the plan’s application. If you don’t have a physical card, use the digital version. To do this, download the app to your cell phone.
Watch out for possible fraud. Be wary of situations such as over ordering tests, allowing others to ask for reimbursement in your name, or requesting duplicate receipts. If you have questions or suspect anything, please contact your health plan or the Hello People team.
Guide your dependents. The tips we share here are essential for everyone who uses health insurance.
Did you know that individual use of health insurance has a collective impact?
The readjustment of the plan’s value is negotiated annually, and one of the factors that influence it is the plan’s high utilization rate, that is, the number of consultations, exams, and excessive procedures performed by all beneficiaries in the period. The conscious use of your health plan, as well as the joint actions between the broker, the insurance companies, and the insured, are factors that collaborate to the success of the negotiations, bringing more savings to you.
